Starving Artist

The term starving artist has been used to describe artists who are out there trying to use their talent to make a living. Most famous artists never sold any of their paintings while they were alive. People often criticized their work. Some even lived in assylums yet now that they are dead someone else is making millions of dollars selling their work in galleries all over the world. Not even their children get to enjoy the benefits but a stranger is making a fortune. Wouldn't it be better to give the artist what his work is worth while he is still alive instead of waiting till he is dead. It's only fair. Song writers and singers get to tour the world making millions selling records winning awards etc. And that is great. They should. But let's do the same thing for artists. Not just those that went to an art institute to learn their skill but those out there that are self taught and who knows that his/her talent was given by God. Imagine if the artists out there were paid for their skills it would encourage more artists to come out and use their gifts. Young children would be encouraged to pursue careers in art as an outlet instead of violence. Parents would have a way to feed their families. The public would get a chance to admire and purschase great art. That would be great.
